Alves 2 (Devil’s Mountain Nebula)
Alves 2 is a nebula in the interstellar medium.
ISM (Inter Stellar Medium refers to regions of gas and dust scattered between stars within a galaxy, which form nebulae, the birthplaces of stars, the remnants of dying stars such as planetary nebulae, and other structures that compose this interstellar material, crucial to the cosmic cycle of matter and energy). Discovered by Filipe Oliveira Alves in 2013, it has no catalog designation yet, but is often listed as a PN candidate (PNG 182.2+11.3). There are very few photographs of this very faint nebula, which is located in the constellation Auriga.
